  • HIRED! Program Career Fair for Teens will be held from 2-4 p.m. March 18-19 at Harrold Youth Center for teens 15-18 years. Day 1 learn about job applications, resumes and interviewing. Day 2 explore various careers by talking one-on-one with experts. For more information call (913) 684-1663.

  • Understanding Those Challenging Behaviors: Yours and Theirs is an upcoming Parent Education opportunity offered by CYS Services at 6:30 p.m. March 24 in the Patch Building. For those needing childcare, reservations are required. For more information call (913) 684-5135/5137/5138.

  • Parents - Do your 6th-9th graders need help with their homework? Harrold Youth Center (HYC) has a dedicated homework instructor available from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. In addition, HYC is getting all new computers for the technology lab, to help assist with homework assignments. For the older teens, they can bring in college applications and essays for review, use the tech lab for SAT/ACT preparation, get assistance and information about scholarship opportunities and make arrangements to perform volunteer hours.   • The Child Development Center has established an email address for patrons to make hourly reservations. Email address is ftlvncdchourly@conus.army.mil. A confirmation email will be sent within 24 hours. Multiple reservation requests can be made in one email. For more information please call the CDC front desk at (913) 684-9351. Reservations will still be accepted at the front desk and by phone.

  • CYS Services registrations and enrollments can be done at the Central Enrollment office, located at 120 Dickman Ave., Monday-Friday with walk-in hours from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1/2 hour appointments scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment, please call (913) 684-5135, 5137 or 5138.

  • The Child Development Center and Family Child Care is willing to help parents with child care for last minute urgent doctor appointments. Parents may call the CDC at (913) 684-9351 or Central Enrollment at (913) 684-5135 or (913) 684-5137 for an FCC Provider. Parents must request urgent care for a same day doctor appointment. The program will make every attempt to place the child for the times requested. Children must be registered with CYS Services and regular fees apply.

  • For weather-related up-to-date information on youth sports and SKIES class cancellations, call the CYS Services Hotline at (913) 684-5113. For general information on child and youth programs, call Central Registration at (913) 684-5135.

  • Heroes at Home/Parents as Teachers - Support program for families with expectant mothers through children age 2 1/2 years. Fort Leavenworth is a pilot location for this program that offers wonderful information on brain development and how to support your child's overall growth.   • The Schools of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration and Skills (SKIES) offers classes in cooking, music, instruments, math support, art and signing. For more information call (913) 684-3207.

  • Family child care providers are needed to provide on post care. Child care exceeding 10 hours weekly, requires training and certification from Child, Youth and School Services. Call (913) 684-5129 for information.
